H. Helon Nichols of Grant, gave us a call last Monday. He is another pioneer farmer of Clark county who settled here in the fal of 1860. He has about 40 apple trees on his farm some of which were planted some 15 years ago His surest varieties are the Duchess and Tetofsky.
More new sidewalls on the North side. The last by Capt. Tolford. The improvement I sidewalks I that part of the city is caused by the order o the city council for the widening of Main street, which also necessitates the removal of trees and shrubbery that have bee growing for years.
Carrie and Grace Dickinson little daughters of D. Dickinson, gave a party to some 30 of their little friends on last Friday and a were as hay as could be. Happy days of childhood, how rapidly they pass.
Maple Works Melange
Haying is progressing in this locality finely. A few have finished.
Amos Spaulding left on Monday for a few days’ visit at Melrose, Jackson county, his former home.
Farmers are beginning to harvest their rye,.
Joseph Marsh has gone to Spencer on business.
Charles Cornelius is doing a good business in selling farm machinery. He is building a shed 16X48 to house his machinery.
