ABBOTSFORD TRIBUNE (Abbotsford, Wis.) 04/26/1923 Schafer, Joseph
(26 Jan 1850 - 16 Apr 1923) It has pleased
Almighty God to take from this vale of tears unto Himself Joseph
Schafer, departing this life Monday, April 16, 1923 at 2:00 pm., at
the age of 73 years, 2 months and 21 days. He was born in Chicago,
Ill. Jan. 26, 1850. In 1877 he moved to Billion, Calumet Co., Wis.,
and it was there that he united in marriage with Miss Amelia Guse
on May 11, 1878. To this union five
children were born, two daughters and three sons. After having
resided here for 28 years for 28 years, he moved to Chili, Clark
County, Wis. and remained there until 1913. From here he came to
Abbotsford, Wis. and remained until his death. The deceased took
severely sick about a week ago and felt that this would be his last
sickness and made arrangements, calling Rev. V. M. Keifer to make
him a sick visit and to prepare him for Holy Communion, also to
help him set his house in order because he felt that his time on
earth would soon come to a close and because God in his word has
told us that the day of death is bound to come, for it is written:
" It is appointed unto man once to die, but after this the
judgement." Mr.
Schafer’s wife died in 1906. In 1919 he married Amelia
Krugger Brunner. He is survived by
his widow and the following children: Mrs. Ida Apline of Hilbert,
Wis., Mrs. Eunua Schaffer of Chippewa Falls, Wis., John of Lynn,
Wis., Adolph of Chippewa Falls, Wis., George of Hilbert, Wis. Funeral services
were conducted Wednesday morning from his home near Abbotsford,
Wis. by the Rev. V. M. Keifer. The body was then shipped to
Brillion, Wis. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
