(19 Dec 1844 - 1 Feb 1925) John Cornelius was
born at Minsen, Germany, Dec. 19, 1844 and died at St.
Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield, Feb. 1, 1925 at the age of
80 years, 1 months and 13 days. About two weeks before his death he
suffered a fractured hip and was taken to the Marshfield Hospital
to undergo an operation. Mr. Cornelius was
united in marriage to Sofie Pekol in Germany in 1866 and came with
his wife and family to the United States in 1890, settling near
Stetsonville, Wis. Here he made his home for many years and for the
past ten years has lived with his son, H. J. Cornelius of this
city. Four children were
born to Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius, Fred of Waukesha, Henry and Mrs.
Bertha Rimer of Stetsonville and Herman J. of Abbotsford, all of
who survive him. His wife preceded him to the grave in 1913. Funeral services
were held at the H. J. Cornelius home here Wednesday afternoon,
Rev. Kieper of Dorchester officiating. Interment was made in the
