(18 OCT 1857 - 20 Apr 1925) Residents of
Abbotsford, Wis. were shocked Monday hearing of the death of R. E.
Parkhill, at the Marshfield Hospital after an illness of less than
a week. He was taken ill with influenza and pneumonia and was taken
to the hospital last Thursday. Mr. Parkhill was
one of Abbotsford's oldest settlers and with be greatly missed by
the ost of friends who have known him for years. Ruben Eli Parkhill
was born in the village of Clockville, N.Y., Oct. 18, 1857, and
died at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, April 20, 1925 at the
age of 67 years, 6 months and 2 days. He came to Wisconsin with his
parents in 1867 when he was ten years old and to the town of Hull,
Marathon County in 1873. Jan. 18, 1882 he was united in marriage to
Sophia Schultz, who passed away March 20, 1922. Nine children were
born to this union, five of who preceded their father to the grave.
He leaves to mourn his loss, four children, Mrs. Lillian Lamkins of
Manawa, Mrs. Edith Bunnell of Abbotsford, Frank of Kaukauna and Eli
of Tacoma, Wash., and six grandchildren. He also leaves five
brothers, William of Tomahawk, George B. of Madison, Jesse of
Superior, Fred of Salem, Oregon and Niles of Abbotsford. One
brother, Jerome, preceded him in death, April 28th, 1924. Mr. Parkhill had
been employed at the Soo Line Depot for the past several years. He
had a reputation for kindness and generosity and to those near and
dear to him, we offer our most sincere sympathy. Funeral services
will be held on Thursday afternoon at the M. C. Bunnell home at one
o'clock and at the church at two. A few of the out
of town people here to attend the funeral are: Mr. and Mrs. Jesse
Parkhill of Superior, Frank Parkhill of Kaukauna, George B.
Parkhill of Madison, Mr. and Mrs. Munson of Withee and Mrs. Shiver
