ABBOTSFORD TRIBUNE (Abbotsford, Wis.) 05/07/1925 Gowans, James (9
OCT 1844 - 2 May 1925) Mr. James Gowans,
a resident of Abbotsford, Wis. for the past ten years passed away
at his home here Saturday, May 2, 1925, his death resulting from a
complication of diseases. James Gowans was
born in Scotland, Oct. 9, 1844, and passed away May 2, 1925, at the
age of 80 years, 6 months and 22 days. He came to America in 1866,
settling in the town of Lisbon, and in 1871 was united in marriage
to Ione Gillmour. To this union one daughter was born. His wife passed
away at Medford, Oct. 9, 1915. He then sold his farm and moved to
Abbotsford, where he has since resided with his daughter, Mrs.
Harry Bark, who was with him in the end. Mr. Gowans had
served as flagman at the Soo Line crossing in this village until
last fall when his health failed. His kindly
greetings and life of cheerful service made him known and loved by
young and old, and it is with keen regret and sorrow that we hear
of his going. He leaves to mourn
his loss, one daughter, Mrs. Harry Bark of this village. Funeral services
were held at the home at three o'clock Sunday afternoon, Rev. Von
Busch officiating. The body was taken to Templeton, for burial
beside the remains of his wife. Those from out of
town who attended the funeral were, Mr. Pierce and son of Medford,
and friends from surrounding towns. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
