ABBOTSFORD TRIBUNE (Abbotsford, Wis.) 10/01/1925 Voskuil, Florence
B. (13 Dec 1891 - 27 Sep 1925) Mrs. Jess Voskuil,
whose maiden name was Florence Berdina Hawks, a daughter of Ira S.
and Lucy Hawks, was born at Curtiss, Clark County, Wis., Dec. 13,
1891 and died at her home in Baldwin, Wis., Sep 27, 1925. She was
married to Jess Voskuil, June 20, 1923. A son, Galen, was born to
Mrs. Voskuil, Sept. 4, 1925. From this date she has been gradually
losing strength until the closing of her life on Sunday evening
last. Mrs. Voskuil was a
graduate of the Dorchester High School, class of 1907. Following
her graduation she spent a year at the Northwestern Collegiate
Institute at Sherry, Wis., and then two years at Northland College
at Ashland, Wis.; she then spent five years as a teacher in the
schools of Wis., three of them being in her home town school at
Curtiss. The happiest year
of her school life and the one which did most in shaping and giving
direction to the splendid character she bore was that spent at
Northwester Collegiate Institute. She united with the
Congregational Church when fourteen years of age, afterward became
affiliated with the Presbyterian Church at Abbotsford, and then
brought her letter to the Presbyterian Church of Baldwin, of which
she has been an active, faithful member. A sister's death
by drowning, June 8, 1922, was a most trying ordeal for Mrs.
Voskuil and left its effect indelibly stamped on her mind and did
much to deplete her physical strength and bring about the
inevitable end. The sympathy of
the entire community is felt for Mr. Voskuil and the little
motherless lad she is leaving. Aside from her immediate family,
there is left to mourn her untimely death, her father, mother and
two brothers, as well as a host of friends who appreciated and
prized the many splendid qualities of her Christian character. Funeral services
were held from her home in Baldwin on Tuesday afternoon at three
thirty o'clock, and at the Congregational Church in Curtiss at two
o'clock on Wednesday, both services being conducted by her pastor,
Rev. E. S. Genung of Baldwin. She was laid to rest in the local
cemetery at Abbotsford, Wis. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
