Anew face is being seen around Victory Memorial Hospital, Stanley these days.
Since September
19, 1977 Anthony (Tony) Schwendinger has been on duty as anesthetist.
Tony grew up in Dubuque, Iowa, and later received his Bachelor’s degree in
Biology from Loras College in Dubuque, his Nursing degree at St. Teresa College
in Winona, Minnesota, and Anesthesia at La Crosse.
When asked his reasons for coming to Victory Memorial, Tony quietly said that he
likes a rural community, enjoys the hunting and fishing available in the area,
and also was influenced by the prospects of the satellite clinic soon to be
established.
Until his arrival, the hospital has been served by the anesthesia department of
St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls for several years, on a “call” basis.
They will continue to serve as his relief.
Tony and his wife, Dina, and 12-week-old daughter, Paula, will be living in
Thorp.
