Wm. Anthony, who came from Scotland five years ago and settled in the town of York, has chopped and cleared fifty acres of land all alone and has now gone back to Scotland, we think to get him a lassie.
Considerable damage is being done by the foxes this summer in Grant and Pine Valley. If the bounty was about thirty cents more on those animals, and my winning ways were as successful at catching foxes as they are at catching Pine Valley boys, I would try them a pull.
THORP TIDINGS: Charles Flood, of Unity, was in town on Wednesday and Thursday last looking up his stave timber near here preparatory to putting in a crew of men to work making staves.
M. Oudinot, of Abbotsford, is in town buying shingles of Nye, Lusk & Hudson.
Mrs. E. A. Dodds left today for a short visit with friends and relatives at Omaha, Nebraska.
Mrs. Wm. Aldrich returned from a visit with her parents in the southern part of the state, last Saturday.
V. R. Mead returned yesterday from a trip to Jefferson county, on business.
