Phonograph (Colby, Wis.) 03/10/1927 Kobs, Augusta (23
JUL 1857 - 7 Mar 1927) Mrs. Augusta Kobs,
one of the early pioneers of this vicinity, died Monday afternoon,
March 7, 1927, at her home in Colby, Wis., a stroke of paralysis
being the cause of her demise. Funeral services will be held this
Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, at the Zion Lutheran Church,
Rev. Kirchhoeffer officiating. The deceased was
born in the town of Herman, Sheboygan Co., Wis, July 23, 1857, thus
reaching the age of 69 years, 8 months and 15 days. She came to
Colby forty-five years ago, when this vicinity was still a vast
wilderness, and was married to Albert Kobs at Zion Lutheran Church
in Colby when she was twenty-eight years of age. Her husband died
five years ago. Her departure is
mourned by three children, three children having preceded her to
that distant shore, one sister, and four grandchildren. The
children are: George Kobs, Colby, Paul Kobs, Neenah, Fred Kobs,
Colby. Her sister, Fredericke Georgas, lives at Dorchester. She was a woman of
strong Christian character and never forgot the hospitable ways of
the pioneer, but the messenger of death called and now another name
is stricken from the roll of early pioneers. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
