Born - On Sunday evening, January, 29th, to Mr. H. H. Hartson and wife, a son. The benign smiles that illuminate Henry’s countenance speak plainer than words the happiness he feels. He went right down to the store Monday morning and request Mr.. Justice to make a discount of five per cent, on cold sheets, parlor stoves and numerous other things, and although glass has advanced fifty per cent in market, he says their customers shall have the benefit of the old prices.
A sad accident occurred at Spaulding’s mill, eight miles east of here, on Monday afternoon last, by which a man named Gregory Dorn came near losing his life. A large slab from the saw struck him breaking three ribs and cracking breast bone. He was brought to the Forest Queen House and Dr. Selden called in who done all he could for him and says if internal injuries are not too severe he may recover.
MERRILLAN JUNCTION: Gordon Dunn is again on the invalid corps.
Mr. Miller Rieck spent last Sunday at Fall Creek.
Wm. Oliver has been allowed an increase of pension.
Robbie Wilcox is very sick with congestion of the lungs.
A. H. Owen is spending part of this week In Neillsville, and vicinity.
Geo. Small attended the Burns memorial festival at Arcadia last week.
M. Martens and wife took in sights at Sait Paul Saturday and Sunday last.
G. Illion expects to go to Milwaukee soon, to have an operation performed on his eyes.
Ed. Trumbull left Wednesday to accept a position as clerk in a hotel at Watermeet, Mich.
Mrs. A. H. Owen left last night for Kilbourn City, whether she was summoned by a telegram announcing the dangerous illness of her mother.
W. J. Rouse received the sad news Monday, of the death of his nephew’s wife, W. A. Rouse, of Minneapolis. The remains were brought to Osseo for interment.
Mike Cannon has been among his numerous friends here several days this week. He goes to Chicago, to-night, to purchase an outfit preparatory to opening a marble shop at Escanaba, Mich.
EIDSVOLD EPITOME: Mr. Longstaff, was here last week, scaling birch for the Clark Manufacturing Co. of Cadott.
Mrs. E. O. Warner has returned from her visit, with Durand friends.
The family of R. Warden have been suffering with the mumps, for the past two weeks but are now recovering.
Orlando Storey who has been working at Thorp, for sometime past, is at home, wrestling with the mumps.
A. J. Hadly, met with quite a serious accident, last week, in which one of his feet was severely injured.
Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Cornwell, of Thorp, visited friends in these parts, Saturday and Sunday last.
Miss Kattie Colby, spent Saturday with friends near Sterling.
