1893 - 16 Jul 1928) Ed Henkel, who has
been ailing with tuberculosis the past four years, passed away
suddenly last Monday evening, July 16, 1928, at seven o'clock, at
the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gust Henkel, after a series
of hemorrhages. Although the deceased was ill the past four eyars,
he was not in bed except on the day of his death. Funeral services
will be held this Thursday afternoon at the Methodist Church and
interment made in the Colby Cemetery. Members of the American
Legion Post of Colby, Wis. will act as pallbearers and escort the
remains to the cemetery. The deceased was
born in the town of Hull, Marathon Co., Wis., Dec. 3, 1893, thus
reaching the age of thirty-five years, seven months and thirteen
days. He was married to Miss Emily Boeheva, a Russian girl, in
Constantinople, Feb. 6, 1923, to which union one son was born on
July 4, 1925, at Brooklyn, N.Y., where he took up his residence
after he returned to the United States. He entered the service of
Uncle Sam in 1911 as chief mechanic mate and spent eight years in
the U. S. Navy. He was in the service of his country when he
contracted the disease from which he died. Besides his wife
and child and parents, his departure is mourned by the following
brothers and sisters: Wallace, Philadelphia; George, Montana, Mrs.
Elphine, St. Louis; Mrs. Phipps, Chippewa Falls; Mrs. Johnson,
Chicago; Mrs. Hochmuth, Milwaukee; Jack, at home; Mac, at home;
Bobby, at home; and Miss Alice, Chippewa Falls. Two brothers
