J. (21 May 1873 - 14 Mar 1929) Funeral services
for William Frederick John Bandow, whose death was chronicled in
this paper last week, were held at the Friedens Church, in the town
of Frankfort, Marathon Co., Wis., Sunday, Mar. 18, Rev. Notbohm
officiating, and interment was made in the Colby, Wis., Cemetery.
The deceased was ill but four days and died at the Marshfield
Hospital Thursday morning, March 14, inflammation of the bowels
being the cause of death. The deceased was
born in Garwitz, Germany, May 21, 1873, thus reaching the age of
fity-five years, nine months and twenty days. He came to the U. S.
on May 1, 1891, and lived in Winnebago Co. for a few years, but a
few years later, moved to this locality, coming here thirty-two
years ago. He was married to Mary Heimes, who survives him, at
Unity, Wis., May 16, 1899. Seven children were born to this union,
five of who are still living, namely: Mrs. Frank Sterzinger of
Colby, Wis.; Amborse A. Bandow, Racine, Wis.; Helen, Mayme and
Clement Bandow, at home. William and George Bandow preceded their
father in death. He is also survived by three brothers and four
sisters. Two brothers and three sisters live in Garwitz, Germany,
and one brother, John Bandow, lives at Neenah, Wis., and one
sister, Mrs. Joe Miller, lives at Curtiss, Wis. The out of town
people here for the funeral were John Bandow and wife, Irene
Bandow, John Bandow, Jr., Mrs. Otto Borchert, Mr. and Mrs. Reinhold
Ludeman, all of Neenah, and Mrs. Fred Serlow of Medina
Junction. Mr. Bandow was one
of our early pioneers, a man of generous impulses and never forgot
the hospitable ways of the pioneer. He was held in high esteem by
his neighbors and friends and held the office of school treasurer
for a number of years. He was a member of the G. U. G. Germania and
