Bandow, William F. J. (21 May 1873 - 14 Mar 1929)

Funeral services for William Frederick John Bandow, whose death was chronicled in this paper last week, were held at the Friedens Church, in the town of Frankfort, Marathon Co., Wis., Sunday, Mar. 18, Rev. Notbohm officiating, and interment was made in the Colby, Wis., Cemetery. The deceased was ill but four days and died at the Marshfield Hospital Thursday morning, March 14, inflammation of the bowels being the cause of death.

The deceased was born in Garwitz, Germany, May 21, 1873, thus reaching the age of fity-five years, nine months and twenty days. He came to the U. S. on May 1, 1891, and lived in Winnebago Co. for a few years, but a few years later, moved to this locality, coming here thirty-two years ago. He was married to Mary Heimes, who survives him, at Unity, Wis., May 16, 1899. Seven children were born to this union, five of who are still living, namely: Mrs. Frank Sterzinger of Colby, Wis.; Amborse A. Bandow, Racine, Wis.; Helen, Mayme and Clement Bandow, at home. William and George Bandow preceded their father in death. He is also survived by three brothers and four sisters. Two brothers and three sisters live in Garwitz, Germany, and one brother, John Bandow, lives at Neenah, Wis., and one sister, Mrs. Joe Miller, lives at Curtiss, Wis.

The out of town people here for the funeral were John Bandow and wife, Irene Bandow, John Bandow, Jr., Mrs. Otto Borchert, Mr. and Mrs. Reinhold Ludeman, all of Neenah, and Mrs. Fred Serlow of Medina Junction.

Mr. Bandow was one of our early pioneers, a man of generous impulses and never forgot the hospitable ways of the pioneer. He was held in high esteem by his neighbors and friends and held the office of school treasurer for a number of years. He was a member of the G. U. G. Germania and members of that organization attended the funeral in a body.
