Borchert, one of our early pioneers, died last Sunday, May 5, 1929,
in the town of Colby, Clark County, Wis., at 12:00 o'clock, noon,
cancer of the lungs being the cause of his departure to the distant
shore. Funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon, May
9th, the Rev. A. Kirchhoeffer officiating, and interment will be
made in the Colby Cemetery. He attained the age of 67 years. Mr. Borchert was
born Sept. 3, 1861, at Jassnick, Germany, and moved to Dodge Co.
Wis., in 1871, and to Colby, Wis. in the year 1878, fifty years
ago, where he lived until his death. On June 6, 1889, nearly forty
years ago, hew as married to Marie Werner of the town of Wein,
Marathon Co. The following children are still living: Louis
Borchert, Mrs. August Hertz, Carl Borchert, Mrs. Edna Laabs and
Mrs. Elsie Lulloff of the town of Green Grove. There are eight
grandchildren and one sister still living, namely, Mrs. Emilie
Lindtmann of Brawnton, Minn. Mr. Borchert was a
man of fine character, who never forgot the hospitable ways of the
pioneer, and had many friends who join in extending sympathy to the
