(May 1861 - 20 Dec 1929) The death of
Frederick Miller, one of the older settlers of the town of Green
Grove, Clark County, Wis., but the last few years a resident of the
village of Curtiss, Clark County, came as a shock to him many
friends Friday morning. The deceased was apparently in good health
until a few days ago and was at the Marshfield Hospital when the
end came. He was born in Germany and came to this vicinity when
this section was first settle. He attained the age of sixty-five
years and seven months. The funeral was held at the Green Grove
Church on Monday afternoon, the Rev. M. C. Goetsch officiating,
interment taking place in the Green Grove Cemetery. His wife
preceded him in death three years ago, and he leaves to mourn a
son, Fred, on the home farm, a daughter, Mrs. Harry Jentz of Unity,
and three stepdaughters, Mrs. Lueloff of Colby, Mrs. Charles
Marquardt of Green Grove and Mrs. R. Neuman of Unity. He was a highly
respected citizen and neighbor and will be sadly missed. He came to
this vicinity when this country was still one vast wilderness, but
built a fine farm by hard work and how much this community owes him
and such as he is hard to estimate. He had borne adversity bravely
and enjoyed prosperity quietly, was a good Christian and filled the
various relations of life as son, husband, father, brother, friend
and filled them well and kindly. But now he is gone and another
name is stricken from the ever lessening roll of our old
settlers. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
