ENTERPRISE (Owen, Clark County, Wis.) 09/07/1918 Baker, Earl (? - 8
AUG 1918) Earl Baker, son of
Mrs. G. S. Radley, residing seven miles south of this city (Owen,
Clark County, Wis.), who enlisted in the U. S. Army at Minneapolis
shortly after the declaration of war by our country, was killed in
action on Thursday, Aug. 8, 1918, according to telegraphic reports
received by his mother from the War Department on Wednesday
evening. Letters from the
young man received by his mother indicated that he was in action
with French and American troops at Soissons, and it is said that he
has gone over the top many times. Earl Baker
enlisted in the infantry and after a short training here was
transported to France, where he received additional training under
the French army officers. Late letters from him give the idea that
he was about to be promoted to the ranking of Corporal. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
