ENTERPRISE (Owen, Clark County, Wis.) 06/28/1919 Davis, Floid (19
FEB 1900 - 23 JUN 1919) During the severe
electrical storm on Monday afternoon, Floid Davis, 19, the
son-in-law of Mr. Proctor who lives two and one-half miles
southwest of Withee, Clark County, Wis. on the old Bartholomy farm
was killed by a stroke of lightning. He was playing in the barn
with another child and became heated with his playing. He went to
the open barn door and took a hold of a cable running up to the hay
carrier track. Standing upon the wet earth and holding on to the
cable from the roof of the barn, he made a perfect conductor for
the electricity of the air, and the result was that with the first
crash he was electrocuted. A Rabski child who was with him at the
time was stunned but recalls that he crawled about twenty-five feet
before he died. The funeral
services were held from the home by Rev. W. H. Sargent of Owen on
Wednesday at 2:30 in the afternoon. There was a large attendance of
sympathetic friends, and offerings of flowers were numerous. The
choir sang several very fine selections at the home and at
Riverside cemetery at the time of interment. Floid Julius Davis
was born in the town of Sherman, Clark County, Wis., on the 19th of
Feb. 1900 and was 19 years, 3 months and 13 days old at the time of
his death. He is survived by his mother, a step-father, and several
half-brothers and half-sisters. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
