Horn, Christina (30 NOV 1864 - 31 Augl 1943)
Mrs. Christina Horn, daughter of William and Anna Braun, was born in Germany on Nov. 30, 1864. At the age of nine years she came to the United States with her parents. They made their home in Sheboygan Co., Wis., until they moved to Clark County.
In Feb. 1886 she was united in marriage with Robert Horn and they settled on the present Otto Horn farm in the town of Longwood, Clark County. To this union 13 children were born. She was preceded in death by three children and her husband, who passed away 27 years ago.
Mrs. Horn was well known throughout this community and had many friends and acquaintances.
She was ailing for years, but was confined to her bed for only a short time with heart trouble. Her death came Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 31, 1943, having reached the age of 78 years, 9 months and 1 day.
She leaves to mourn her death 7 sons and 3 daughters: Henry, Oscar Hubert and Otto of the town of Longwood, Gus of the town of Warner, Ervin, Owen, Arthur and Mrs. Dora Schuman, Onaka, S.D., Mrs. Laura Beecroft, Salem, Oregon and Mrs. Tillie Poppe, town of Longwood, 25 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She also leaves her brother, William Braun, town of Longwood and her sister, Mrs. Louisa Horn, Greenwood.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, Sep 3 from the Otto Horn home at 1:30 and from the Braun Settlement Church at 2:00, with Rev. P. H. Franzmeier officiating. She was laid to rest in the Braun Settlement Cemetery.
Pallbearers were six sons: Gust, Arthur, Henry, Hubert, Ervin, Otto, Oscar, the eldest son being honorary pallbearer.
Flower girls were Violet and Laverne Horn, Mrs. Art Hendrickson and Mrs. A. E. Stanke.
Out of town relatives and friends who attended the rites were: Rev. C. Matthews, Owen; Mrs. M. F. Schuman and Arthur Horn, Onaka, S. D.; Mrs. A. E. Stanke, Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Baehr and Nels Myriu, Mrs. Dan Poppe, Withee; Mrs. Bertha Karson, Abbotsford; Mrs. Franklin Kraut and daughter, Curtiss.
