Mrs. Riplinger, one of city's oldest pioneers passes away at advanced age of 98 years. She has resided in this city continuously ever since 1854 - funeral tomorrow conducted by her grandson.
One of the very oldest residents of the city was taken away by death Sunday in the person of Mrs. Marie Riplinger (nee Ley) widow of Michael Riplinger, who died at the family home, 1117 S. Ninth Street.
The deceased was born in Wellingen, Kries Merzig, Trier, Germany, on August 20, 1817, being a few weeks of her 98th anniversary. She came to America in 1845 locating at Buffalo and there married her late husband in 1848. Six years later the family came here to reside and have continued to reside here ever since, being pioneers in every sense. Decedent has enjoyed fairly good health up to a few weeks ago when she was confined to her bed with infirmities that forecasted the end. She celebrated her golden wedding in 1898.
Two daughters survive her - Mesdames August Nusang and August Dusold. There are six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Arthur Wyseman, one of the grandchildren, has made his home with her since his childhood.
The funeral will be held tomorrow at 9 o'clock from St. Boniface Church with interment at Calvary. The services will be conducted by her grandson, Rev. August Dusold. Mrs. Riplinger was of an unassuming disposition but was loved for her many virtues. She made friends easily and retained them and her memory will be cherished.
