Neillsville had a storm sweep over it Sunday that gave it a pretty bad scare. The big smokestack and sawdust pipe at the furniture factory blew down, trees were stripped of branches and many blown over in various parts of the city, and many roofs stripped of enough shingles to let in some water. Cellars are flooded, especially those between Fourth and Fifth Streets, on Hewett, from the faulty sewer, which backed a black and pollution laded flood into them all. Considerable damage was done in the country to grain and strawstacks, as it is now the thrashing season, and much grain is in shock and half stacks, where the heavy rain couldn’t do it much good, and the second crop of clover that many had partly cured was blackened and delayed.
