LOYAL -- A new administrator will begin working in the Loyal School District
August 1.
Lawrence Lampsa, administrator of the Elcho School District since 1978, as been
hired by the School Board to replace Ralph Schober who resigned July 1.
Lampsa, 51, has worked in education since 1963 as an elementary teacher,
principal and district administrator at several Wisconsin schools. He attended
the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and earned a bachelor's degree in
elementary education and a master's degree in education administration and
supervision. He has completed additional studies in school law and business.
In 1963, Lampsa began teaching fifth grade in a Milwaukee area school and
continued there until 1966 when he became elementary school principal at
Oostburg. A year later he moved to a similar position at Darien and in 1970
became elementary principal at Mazomanie.
Lampsa first served as a district administrator in 1975 at Port Wing and served
there until taking the post in Elcho.
He and his wife, Carol, have three children ages 15,13, and 11. Lampsa will be
paid $30,000 a year.
The appointment, announced at Monday night's annual meeting, came after
interviews with four candidates. Approximately 30 people applied for the
position.
Schober, who announced his resignation in April, served as administrator for 18
years. High School Principal James Batchelor has served as acting administrator.
