Cathleen Bernardi Jenkins
Cathleen Bernardi Jenkins, 46, of Ventura, Calif., devoted Christian, loving mother, cherished wife, compassionate daughter, loving sister and grandmother, died instantly on Oct. 2 at 3 p.m. in a traffic accident on Highway 1 in Upper Baja, California. Cathleen was driving south for a vacation with her husband, who was asleep in the back seat, when a mishap of unknown origin occurred.
Cathleen was born on June 25, 1957, the second of four daughters to Rick and Betty Bernardi. She graduated from Ventura High School in 1976 and was co-owner of Jenkins Drywall, Inc., a business that is still up and running.
Cathleen is the wife of David Jenkins, a graduate of Neillsville High School in 1973, and the daughter-in-law of Dr. Donald Jenkins, and Trink Jenkins, residents of Neillsville for over 35 years. She is also the sister-in-law of Merrill and Mark Brunette, owners of M & M Catering and Hardwood Floors; aunt of Jake and Molly Brunette, all residents of Neillsville.
Cathleen embodied love, companionship, loyality, honesty, and laughter. She was the proud mother, compassionate daughter, loving sister, and perfect wife. She always had an empathetic and understanding heart for all people. She was always there to lend a helping hand or a sympathetic ear. She had an endless capacity for love for all and wore her heart on her sleeve. Those who knew her well were truly blessed; those who didn't get the chance have most certainly been cheated.
As per Cathleen's wishes, her ashes will be scattered at sea.
No formal public services were held, just one heck of a party, a celebration of her new life.
In lieu of flowers, cards, or tears, her husband has established a memorial fund in her name for the Emmanual Orphanage in Honduras. This was her favorite charity that she and her husband have been involved with since its inception. As per her husband's request, 100 percent of all fuinds received will go directly to the orphanage. All administrative costs will be donated for life by her husband. Please send contributions to Cathleen Jenkins Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 4896, Ventura CA, 93007.
Enjoy your new life with your Lord, baby. Love ya, always!
Your husband on Earth, David Jenkins.
