Jensen, Peter (1849? - 21 OCT 1921)
News of the death of Rev. Peter Jensen was received by friends in Withee, Clark County, Wis. Friday of last week. Rev. Jensen was for more than ten years pastor of the Danish Lutheran Church of that place, giving up his services there about five years ago because of failing health, at which time he went to the west with the hopes that the change of climate would restore him to normal health. For the past few years he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. A. K. Stauning at Tyler, Minn., but recently went to Brush, Colo., seeking a restorative at one of the sanitariums, at which place he passed away on Friday of last week. He was seventy-two years of age and up until his leaving the pastorate here he was very active in social work amongst the Danish peoples and was admired by everyone who came to know him. His work in the Danish colony at Withee will long be remembered, and he was instrumental in bringing many new settlers to that vicinity and making what a prosperous community which it now is.
His body was brought to Withee on Sunday noon and services were held at the Danish Church Monday afternoon, Rev. J. L. L. Dixon of Withee and Rev. Arthur Frost of Montana officiating. His body was laid to rest beside that of his wife who preceded him in death about 11 years ago.
Those from away who came to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. A. K. Stauning, Tyler, Minn., Uffie Norgaard of South Dakota, and Jorgen Norgaard of Harlan, Iowa, his daughter and two sons.
