A little son of Carl Kuhl, living west of this city in the town of Weston, got hold of a dynamite cap Sunday, and to prevent his parents from finding out he had one took it to bed with him. On Monday he applied a match to it with the result that the cap exploded, blowing the thumb and two fingers off, and tearing the flesh badly on the other fingers of his left. Hand. It then punched a hole in his abdomen and one in his face. Drs. Esch & Lacy attended the case. The caps are said to contain about five hundred pounds explosive powder and are not intended for children to play with.

Chas. Burkhardt was found on the street on Tuesday morning in a serious condition having evidently been "held up" during the night before and his head battered and bruised in a horrible manner. Mr. Burkhardt carries evidence in the shape of numerous bullet wound scars of having been in many hard fought battles during the late war and on Sunday last received his quarterly pension check On Monday as usual, he began drinking freely, his spree resulted as above stated. As he has not made his home with his family for several years, village marshal Steele gave him a bunk in the lock up.
