Oluf Thorp, an employee of the N. W. L. Co, at their planning mill at Sterling, had his right arm so badly lacerated by the knives of a plane on Wednesday morning of last week, as to make amputation necessary. It seems that in trying to tighten a nut, with a wrench while the machine was running his hand slipped and n a jiffy it was (unreadable). He was immediately brought to this village and Drs. McKittrick and McCutcheeon amputated the arm near the elbow. Mr. Thorp is a resident of Stanley, where he was conveyed the same day and report says he is getting along all right. Last September John O’Smith, agent for the Oshkosh Mill and Accident Co., induced him to take an accident policy, in consequence of which he will draw over $100 in benefits.
