One day last week a team owned by Abe Lynch was at work hauling dirt out of Tom Lowe’s new cellar and in some way broke the bounds which held the wagon tongue. On the way to the shop to get the damage repaired, the tongue dropped down frightening the horses and they proceeded to run away, going north up Hewett street. On the bridge over O’Neill creek they came in contact with the horses and carriage of Homer Root in which was Mrs. Root and Carter. One while of the carriage was knocked off and the iron work of the top badly bent. Luckily no one was hurt and Lynch’s horses were stopped before they had gone far.
