Our citizens were surprised and pained to hear that W. A. Pounder had made an assignment Saturday, to e. E. Corcker of Neillsville, for the benefit of his creditors,. Mr. Pounder had been engaged in logging during the winter, having bought considerable timber land last fall, and the short winter left him unable to pay the notes coming due on the land. The assets and liabilities are each estimated at about $8,000. Bill says he hopes and expects that each man will receive 100 cents on the dollar, and that he only made an assignment to protect those who would not crowd him from those who were crowding him. We all hope to see him safely landed on his feet in the course of a few months.
