Herman Gerken, for more than twenty years a resident of this city (Owen, Clark County, Wis.), passed away at his home today, shortly after noon. For the past several months he has been in failing health and has been constantly receiving treatment in the hospitals. Death was due to heart failure, a disease from which he had been suffering for the past year. Shortly before his death he was seen by neighbors on the porch of his home and had extended greetings to passers-by, and his death came as a severe shock to his friends and neighbors.

Mr. Gerken was a highly respected citizen, honest in his dealing and was well liked by all who knew him. Since making Owen his home he has been in the constant employ of the John S. Owen Lumber Co.

He leaves to mourn, a wife, who has the deepest sincere sympathy of the entire community in the loss of her husband. No arrangements have been made.
