Melin, Winifred E. (10 Feb 1908 - 7 Augl 1923)

Winifred Eleanor Melin was born Feb. 10, 1908 at Moline, Ill., and passed away at the Luther Hospital, Eau Claire, Wis., Aug. 7, 1923, at 10:35 a.m., where she had been taken seven weeks before for ulcers of the large bowel. When two months old she moved with her parents to Wisconsin and settled on a farm three miles northeast of Withee, Clark County, Wis. She attended the Withee School until last January, when she was forced to leave school on account of ill health. She was a patient little sufferer and won the friendship of all the nurses and doctors who attended her at the hospital, by her pleasant and willing way to accept all that was administered to her by them. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Friday at the home and were conducted by rev. W. F. Grandy, who offered comforting words. Six of her classmates acted as flower girls and some beautiful selections were sung by the M. E. choir, one a special favorite of the departed. She leaves to mourn her loss her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Melin, and one brother, Owen, and an aunt, Miss Ellen Price, who resides with them, and numerous other relatives in Illinois and the Dakotas who were unable to attend the funeral.
