Pete, Ruby (Marriage - 1 Jul 1922)
Miss Ruby Pete, local telephone operator, and Mr. Vernon Douphner of Withee, Clark County, Wis., motored to South St. Paul on Saturday of last week, where at 3:30 in the afternoon they were united in marriage, the Rev. T. C. Jones of the First Methodist Church performing the ceremony. The young people, after a short stay in the city, returned to Owen Sunday evening, where it is expected they will make their future home.
Miss Pete for the past two years has worked for the telephone co. as local operator, and in this position she has made numerous friends, both in Owen and Withee, and until another operator can be secured, she will continue to work.
Mr. Douphner is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Douphner of Withee, and is one of the highly respected young men of that place. For the past few weeks he has been employed by that village as "speed cop."
They will make their home in Owen when living quarters can be secured. The young couples has the well wishes of many friends in both Owen and Withee for a joyous wedded life.
