Thos. Sparks, of Nevins, transacted business in this city yesterday. He reports that the recent rains have almost flooded his neighborhood.
Wm. Volkman, the popmaker, went to Black River Falls Monday, returning Tuesday. He reports having sold nearly a car load of soft drinks in that city.
James McIntire, who left this city about the middle of April for a tour of inspection through the southern states, with a view of seeking a location, returned home yesterday morning, looking as though he had been drawn through a Mississippi fog horn. While away he was taken sick with the Mississippi Valley Miasma-fever and ague, and he now has the complexion between the color of a piece of tan bark and a Black River Falls Indian, in fact, we thought it was the captain of the Falls Indian base ball nine when we first saw him get off the train.
