Smoczyk, Henry G. (8 Jul 1938 – 21 Feb 2022)

Henry G. Smoczyk, age 83, of Thorp passed away on | Monday, February 21, 2022, at Turner Integrity Care in Thorp. Funeral services were held on Friday, February 25, 2022, at Thorp Funeral Home. Rev. Baskaran Sandhiyagu officiated and burial followed in New St. Hedwig Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Joe Pletka, Jr., Travis Johnson, Justin Johnson, Damian Johnson, Bonnie Johnson, and Marcus Shock.

Henry Gervase Smoczyk was born on July 8, 1938, in rural I Thorp, WI., the son of Frank and Frances Mendalski) Smoczyk. He was raised on the family farm and received his education at Red Brick and Yaeger Country Schools. Henry worked at several different jobs over the years until beginning employment with ADS in Greenwood where he worked until March of 2020.

He had many interests, but especially enjoyed making leather belts and wallets, solving word search puzzles, and watching television.

Henry is survived by his sister, Rose Meyer of Stanley; his friend, Roy Kleist of Stanley; several nieces, nephews, great- nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary Kirschner; four brothers: Benedict, Ernest, Leon and Edwin Smoczyk.
