John Urban
John Urban, 78, of Neillsville, passed away Friday, Nov. 28, at Neillsville Memorial Home.
John was born May 23, 1925, in Thorp, to John Sr. and Nellie (nee Zinski) Urban. He married Ione Stevens, Aug. 11, 1951, in Neillsville. He attended schools in Withee, and also Agriculture Short Course in Madison. He then went to Waukesha and worked at Wern Farms as a milk delivery man. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II, After the war, he was employed at the Miller Brewery. In 1950, he bought a farm in Washburn Township, and resided there until the time of his death. John enjoyed farming and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Ione; daughters Debra (David) Vine of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Brenda (Tom) Dieball of Colgate; grandchildren, Dan Vine, Derek Vine, Heather Adams (fiance Mike Sponholz), and Chad Adams; two step-grandchildren, Thomas John Dieball, and Adam Dieball; two sisters, Bertha Ammentorp of Milwaukee and Milda (Glenn) Swanson of Des Plaines, Ill.; also several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Albert.
A celebration of his life was held Dec. 1 at the American Legion Post 73, in Neillsville, with Reverend Craig Conklin officiating and with military rites following.
The Cremation Society of Wisconsin helped serve the family.
