Marine Cpl. Tod K. Lube, son of Carol J. Lube, Route 1, Colby, is currently
serving in the Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 264, Marine Corps Helicopter
Air Station New River, Jacksonville, North Carolina.
The squadron was presented the Navy Unit Commendation for its recent performance
as part of the multi-national peacekeeping force in Beirut, Lebanon.
As part of the 22nd Marine Amphibious Unit, the squadron's pilots and crews flew
more than 2,500 accident-free flights hours to transport cargo and more than
19,000 passengers. The squadron also assisted in search and rescue efforts for
snow-stranded Lebanese in the Syrian-held mountains and dropped food and fuel to
towns and villages unreachable by road.
