Marine Cpl. Rodger L. Tischendorf, son of Donald and Delores Tischendorf, Route
2, Dorchester, has departed on a deployment from Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
He is a member of the 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines.
The unit will spend six months as part of the Marine Corps' unit deployment
program, designed to rotate whole battalions or squadrons at a time instead of
individuals at separate intervals. The program attempts to retain unit integrity
and shortens the time spent overseas.
During the deployment, the unit will conduct training exercises with the U.S,
7th Fleet and units of allied nations.
