Poppe, Elizabeth B. (20 Jan 1846 - 25 Feb 1929)
Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Barbara Poppe, pioneer settler of Longwood, Clark County, Wis., who died at Owen Saturday at the age of 83 years, were conducted Monday afternoon at the Congregational Church at Owen with the Rev. Mr. Powell officiating. Interment was made at Reseberg Cemetery.
Mrs. Poppe was born in Germany Jan. 20, 1846, and at the age of 17 years, came to the U. S. with her parents who settled in Canada. After several years of farming there, the family moved to Wisconsin, locating west of Longwood. There they remained during the rest of their lives.
Ernest Poppe, her husband, died 16 years ago.
Surviving are four sons and several step-children, besides a number of grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her sons are Albert, Rib Lake; William, Marble, Minn.; Henry, Thorp; and Charles, Longwood. Two daughters passed away several years ago. William Poppe of Marble, Minn., was here to attend the funeral.
