Schroeder, Charlotte (Oct 1852 - 1 Mar 1929)

Mrs. Charlotte Schroeder, age 76 years and four months, died suddenly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rhinehardt Wilkins, in the town of Longwood, Clark County, Friday morning of last week. Death was due to heart failure.

Mrs. Schroeder, upon arising in the morning, had complained to her daughter that she had not slept well the night before, and after eating a hearty breakfast retired to her room. Mrs. Wilkins went about with her house work until near the noon hour, when she went to her mother's room to call her for dinner. Here she found her lying on the floor where she had just passed away.

Mrs. Schroeder was one of the pioneer settlers of the town of Longwood, having lived there for the past forty-seven years. she and her husband moved to that township when there was but one road in the vicinity, and that was between Colby and Neillsville, and was used mostly by the loggers. Mr. Schroeder preceded her in death by twelve years. She was a woman of high character, and had led a Christian life. Up until the time of her death she had been active and was enjoying the best of health.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon from the German Lutheran Church at Green Grove, a short service being held at the home early in the afternoon, and interment took place in the Green Grove Cemetery.

She leaves to mourn, five sons, Ernest A. of Owen, Frank and Adolph of the town of Longwood, Carl of the town of Green Grove, and Fred of Oregon, besides four daughters, Mrs. H. J. Meyers, Reedsberg, Wis., Mrs. Arthur Due, Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Charlotte Berdall, Detroit, Mich., and Mrs. Rhinehardt Wilkins of the town of Longwood.
