August Steiger quietly passed away at his home on the West Side, last Thursday afternoon, Feb. 2nd, at 6 o'clock p.m. at the age of 52 years, 5 months and 27 days. Mr. Steiger had been a resident of this county since 1897, when he moved here from La Crosse with his wife and three children, locating on the farm west of the river where he resided up to his death. He was born in Chicago, August 6, 1858, the youngest of eight children born to Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Steiger. In 1859 the family moved to La Crosse and settled on a farm, where deceased passed his boyhood days and grew into manhood. March 17th, 1883, he was married to Miss Lena Andregg. Later he moved to Washington, Kansas, and in 1891 removed to La Crosse, hence to Greenwood in 1897.
