"Oscar Anderson, 78, Rites Today, Thursday" Oscar Anderson, 78, route 1, Owen, was found dead in the garage at his home in Longwood shortly after noon Monday by a relative. Authorities said Anderson had been dead since some time Sunday and that a wound from a .22 caliber rifle was found in his lower left chest. The rifle lay at his feet. The death was ruled a suicide, according to county officers. Anderson lived alone. The Rev. David E. Wenger, pastor of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Longwood, will conduct services at 1 p.m. (today), Thursday at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home in Owen. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Anderson was born Sept. 1, 1897, in the town of Longwood, where he operated a farm with his brother, Arthur, until 1947. He then retired and moved to Longwood, where he was engaged in hobby target shooting and as a gunsmith. He attended the Longwood Public School and was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran church. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Gunda Sorenson, route 1, Owen; three brothers, Arthur Anderson, Owen, Melvin Anderson, Withee, and Myron Anderson, Appleton, and a number of nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was a sister.
