GOLDEN I. STURGEON, 62, BURIED IN RIVERSIDE CEMETERY MONDAY; HIGHLY RESPECTED.

Golden I. Sturgeon, the pioneer businessman on the Main Street of this city, was laid to rest in the Riverside cemetery Monday morning after having been in business in the city of Owen for the past 35 years operating a tavern. Mr. Sturgeon was admired by his fellow businessmen as being the oldest among them and for the precedent he had established in operating his business.

He had been in failing health for the past two years, at various times being laid up by illness which gradually wore him down physically. For the past ten days prior to his passing away he had been in bed at his home and on Tuesday of last week, when a decided change for the worse was noticed he was admitted to the Legault hospital where he passed away Friday evening, Nov. 1, at the age of 62.

Golden I. Sturgeon was born on March 2, 1878, at LaCrosse, later moving with his parents to Withee where he spent his early boyhood. When 14 years of age he moved to Fitchburg, Mass., where he spent seven years of his life before returning to Withee. He was employed for several years by the John S. Owen Lumber Company and on December 14, 1905, was united in marriage to Belle Clifton at Thorp. This union was blessed by three children, a son, Aaron of Wausaw, and two daughters, Beatrice of Marshfield and Bernadine of DePere.

His passing away is mourned by his family; mother, Mrs. Rose Sturgeon of Owen; three sisters, Mrs. S. L. (Lily) Meek of 1715 Lake St. Bellingham, Wash., Cora and Theo Sturgeon of Owen; and two brothers, Sonnie of Glidden, and Cleveland of Owen.

Among those from away that attended the service and paid their respects to the family were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Rasmussen, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Tufts, Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Normington, Cliff Patrie, Wilbur N. Johnson, Mrs. Ben Wing, Mrs. Mark Ferrando and Mriss Mary Cassidy of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Val Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. George Marsh, and Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Cormack of Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dandoy, Mrs. John Dandoy, Miss Geraldine Dandoy, and Miss Jerrie Dandoy of Green Bay; Mr. and Mrs. John Servaty of Cable; Mr. and Mrs. William Jehn of Butternut; Russell Anderson of Chicago, Ill.; and Mrs. P. J. Abler of Fond du Lac.
