FRENCHTOWN PTA HOLD MEETING
1947
The meeting was opened with the audience singing "My Wild Irish Rose." Roll call was answered and minutes of the previous meeting read and approved. It was decided to have a bake sale on Saturday, April 12, 1947. The proceeds to go toward purchasing a movie projector. The committee in charge of the bake sale are Mrs. Alfred Frost, Mrs. Sig Sorensen, Mrs. Glen Buchanan, and Mrs. Axel Sorensen.
Our president, Mrs. Keskimaki, read an article on conserving our natural resources. She suggested the children pick fewer flowers, as many of them are becoming extinct. The meeting was adjourned.
Mr. Fritsch showed two interesting films and explained the various features of the projector.
The following program was given: Two selections by the orchestra, which was composed of Mrs. Oscar Mueller, Mrs. Ed. Bruckschlager, Eveelyn Steager, Walter Draheim, Pete Steager, and Harry Bruckschlager.
Vocal solos by Mary Nielsen, accompanied by Floyd Hansen. Saxaphone solos by Harry Bruckschlager, vocal solos by Eugene Koplitz, both accompanied by Doris Buchanan.
While Floyd Hansen played "The Easter Parade" the young people of the community displayed latest styles ranging from the days of the "bustles" to styles (?) of 1955. Some very fetching gowns were worn by the young ladies.
The men, not to be out-done, were dressed in styles ranging from sport clothes to plug hats and canes. Helen Monson of Withee had written a very clever poem describing each character, which was read by Esther Sorensen.
The orchestra concluded the program by playing two more selection. After lunch was served, the rest of the evening was spent in square dancing. The young people of the community were in charge of the original and interesting programs, which was enjoyed by all.
The next program will be held April 25, 1947 and is in charge of Mrs. Q. Laine, Grant Anderson, Pete Steager, Mrs. Harry Hansen and Mrs. Woodrow Peterson.
