The shelves are stocked, the coffee is brewing and Thorp's newest business is
officially open. While Kwik Trip opened its doors for business on Thursday,
February 3rd it held its official ribbon cutting ceremony this past Thursday,
February 19th at 10:00 a.m.
On hand for this grand event were Kwik Trip owner Don Zietlow, Kwik Trip Vice
President Scott Teigen, Thorp Mayor Richard Wnek, Thorp Police Chief Ty
Schneider, Thorp Fire Chief Paul Skibbie, as well as members of the Thorp Fire
Department, several Kwik Trip co-workers and members of the community. Kwik Trip
Owner Don Zietlow spoke about the history of the company and how it has grown
from one store to 805 stores that employ 32,000 co-workers. Zietlow explained
that Kwik Trip processes 800,000 gallons of milk per day in its facility as well
as making its own ice cream, breads, buns, donuts and cookies.
As a way of giving back to their new community Kwik Trip presented checks in the
amount of $ 1,000 each to the Thorp Police Department and the Thorp Fire
Department. Thorp Police Chief Ty Schneider and Thorp Fire Chief Paul Skibbie
accepted these donations.
The new Kwik Trip is 9,000 square feet, and features 48 parking stalls with 20
of those being under the gas canopy. It also has a single bay automatic car wash
as well as two lanes dedicated to diesel trucks on the south end. The new store
that is managed by store lead Jim Paczkowski plans to be open 24 hours a day to
serve the community of Thorp and its surrounding neighbors.
