TRANSCRIBED TEXT:
Republican and Press, October 14, 1886: Our little community was thrown into excitement last Saturday night by the accidental shooting of Mr. A. Curtiss. He was out, we understand, after a coon, and slipped and struck his gun in such a way as to discharge the load into his right side, sending slivers of the rib bones into the lungs. He lived until Sunday afternoon. Mr. Curtiss was a young married man who had lately come to Clark Co. to live. He leaves his wife to mourn his untimely death. She has the sympathy of the entire neighborhood.
