On Sunday the Ayer family held a family reunion at the Melvin Ayer cottage at
Pier Lake.

The Rev. Claude Vander Stoep, Dalton, Nebraska, was guest pastor at Unity
Trinity Lutheran Church on Sunday, August 1, 1976. Pastor Vander Stoep continued
the celebration of the 75th anniversary of Trinity. Pastor Vander Stoep served
the congregation from 1952 through 1957.
After the morning service, Pastor Vander Stoep and his family greeted old friend
in the basement. Later everyone went to the Unity Village Park for a picnic.
The 75th anniversary celebration at Trinuty Lutheran will continued on August 15
with the Rev. Charles Witt preaching at the 9:30 a.m. service. There will be a
potluck smorgasbord in the church basement after the service.
The Rev. Elton Moore is pastor of Trinity Lutheran, Unity.

Because of his lifelong interest in aviation, Glen Herring received a mural
depicting an aviational scene from his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Herring,
Colby, for his 12th birthday. Young Herring has been interested in becoming a
pilot since he was seven years old, and plans to join the Air Force after
graduation, and eventually entering commercial flying. The 8 x 10 mural was
painted by Laurie Hedler, also of Colby, in about 12 hours’ time.

Mrs. Mary Habeck, Dorchester, was honored Saturday evening on the occasion of
her 82nd birthday. Thirty-two guests were present at a potluck supper at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Abegglen and family of Stetsonville. Mrs. Abegglen
is Mrs. Habeck’s daughter. Another daughter, Mrs. Percy Maxam, Appleton, and a
son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lavern Habeck, Oshkosh, were also present.

Ridderbush, Herman A. (22 Apr 1901 – 1 Aug 1976)
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 3, 1976 at Christ Lutheran Church,
Abbotsford for Herman Arthur Ridderbush, age 75, Abbotsford.
The Rev. Kenneth Loehrke officiated at the 1 p.m. services. Burial followed in
the Pine Grove Cemetery at Wausau.
He was born April 22, 1901 in Clintonville. He married Viola Beyreis on July 30,
1951 in Crown Point, Indiana.
He farmed in the Town of Holton on his parents’ farm until 1932; then he worked
in Wausau as a brakeman for the Milwaukee Road Railroad and later as a conductor
in Milwaukee. In 1968 he moved to Taylor County and operated Hulls Lake Resort
in Medford, until he moved to Abbotsford in 1973.
Mr. Ridderbush was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and the Brotherhood of
Railroad Train men.
He is survived by his widow; two sons, Gen, Abbotsford, and James, Appleton; one
daughter, Mrs. Shirley Felton, Spencer; 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild;
two sisters, Mrs. Earl (Velda) Rundle, Wausau, and Mrs. Anna Garbisch,
Abbotsford, and one brother, Louis, Wausau.
