Ernest Grabe was born in Germany, Feb. 7th, 1860 and passed away at his home in the town of York, Jan. 22, 1932. He had been in poor health the past six months and had an operation at the Marshfield hospital in September, 1931, and has been failing ever since. He was married in Neillsville, Aug. 29, 1885 to Miss Ella Snyder, and they moved to the town of York soon after that and bought a farm, living in part of Mr. Fulwiler's house until they got a home built on their own place, where he had lived ever since that time. He was an honest, hard-working man, a good neighbor and kind father. His wife died Feb. 18th, 1920. To this union four children wre born: Mamie, Mrs. John Mabie, who died May 7, 1919; Mable, Mrs. Arthur Allen of Rochester, Mich.; Kenneth at home and Donald of Detroit, Mich. There are 12 grandchildren, one of them, Robert Enders, has lived here with his grandparents since he was a baby. The funeral was held at the York Center church, Monday, Jan. 25, Rev. Grandy of Loyal preaching the sermon. Burial was in the York Center cemetery. The pallbearers were Nick Wierenzenski, Fred Kier, Jesse Mortimer, Abie Turner, George Searls and Joe Eysnogle.
