It becomes our sad duty this week to report the death of a neighbor. The silent messenger entered the Osgood home early Wednesday morning and claimed the husband and father Emery B. Osgood at the age of 85 years, 5 months and 22 days. He was born in Putney, Vermont, September 25, 1823, and in 1855 he was married to Mary L. Green who survives him. This union was blessed with six children - five boys and one girl, four of whom have preceded him. The daughter, Mrs. James Parks of Neenah and Charles O. of York are left to mourn his demise. Beside his wife and two children he leaves two sisters and a brother who are Mrs. C. W. Carr of Engelwood, Illinois, Mrs. E. E. Woodworth of Kansas City, Missouri and Abel Osgood who resides in Northern Minnesota. Deceased came to Clark County in 1885 and bought the farm where he resided until his death. Mr. Osgood was a kind husband and a loving father. He was afflicted with rheumatism and bore his suffering very patiently, and when the final summons came he said he was ready and prepared to meet his God. The funeral was held Friday afternoon in the M.E. Church, Rev. C. H. Towne officiating, with interment in the York Center Cemetery. To the bereaved relatives we extend sympathy.
