Services for Milford L. Rowe, 80, Route 1, Granton, who died Monday at the Memorial Home, will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at York Center Methodist Church. The Rev. Charles Sanford will officiate. Burial will be in the York Center Cemetery. Visitation at the Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, will be from 5-9 p.m. Thursday, and at the church on Friday for one hour before the services. He was born August 30, 1902 in the Town of York, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Walter H. (Sadie Graves) Rowe. He received his education at the Merry Vale School and Neillsville and Granton High Schools. He operated a farm in the Town of York for more than 60 years, and he served on the board of Merry Vale School and the York Center Cemetery Association for many years. He was a member of the Modern Woodman of America. He married Irene Counsell May 31, 1928 in Neillsville. She survives along with a daughter, Mrs. Gilbert (Shirley) Ahlborn of Minocqua; a son, Donald Rowe of Granton; one sister, Mrs. Verla Hales of Granton; four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, and a grandson, Billy Rowe.

Milford Rowe Farm

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Graves and two children, Sadie and Edward, moved from Eden, Fond du Lac County, to Clark County and bought 160 acres of farmland in Section 28, Town of York, from Sam Gibson on Oct. 25, 1892. Mrs. Graves died suddenly in March of 1897. Sadie and Walter Rowe, son of Wm. and Zelina Rowe, were married in 1898. A daughter; Verla, and a son, Milford, were born to them. Mr. Graves continued to live with his daughter Sadie until 1913 when he married Martha Gibson of Fond du Lac, and at that time purchased another farm in the town of York and farmed until his death in 1918, at which time Mrs. Graves went to live with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Rowe until her death. in 1922. Walter and Sadie Rowe purchased the farm from Mr. Graves in 1918 and continued to live there until 1933 when they built a small house on the same farm. Milford was married in 1928 to Irene Counsell of Neillsville, They had two children, Shirley (Mrs. Gilbert Ahlborn) of Minocoqua; and Donald, who lives at home.

Mr. and Mrs. Milford 'Rowe continued to operate the farm until March, 1948, when his father passed away, at which time the farm was divided between Milford and his sister Verla. Their mother passed away in March, 1954. Donald has continued to live at home and now operates the home farm.

Verla married Edward Dahl, and they have two children, Hazel (Mrs. Wm. Miller of Clintonville, who has five children), and Alvin, who owns and lives on a farm in the Town of York and works at Zupanc Ford Garage at Loyal. He married Alice Baughman of the Town of Eaton.

Verta. lived with her mother until after her death and then married Loren Hales of the Town of York. After a few years, she sold her farm to Leroy Lezotte and after Mr. Hales' death in 1962, bought a home in the village of Granton.
