Mrs. Augusta Turner, deceased daughter of John and Mary Radant was born November 29th, 1851, in Berlin, Germany dying at the age of 80 years, 6 months, and 5 days. At the age of 16 she came to this country with a neighbor by the name of Richlaugh. From then on she worked her way until the year of 1867 when she was united in marriage to Melvin Turner. To this union were born three children, Morris and Newell of the Town of York, and Maude, Mrs. Chauncey Stevens of the Town of Veefkind, all of whom survive her. One grandchild, Ross Stevens, and one step grandchild, Velma Turner. After the marriage to Melvin Turner for a number of years they cooked in logging camps until they purchased forty acres of timber land in the Town of York. There they worked together in making their home, where they resided until their death. In the year of 1915 her husband preceded her in death. Since that time she has lived with her two sons, Morris and Newell, at home. She had been ailing for several months and was confined to her bed May 13th. On May 24th at 4:30 p.m. she called home. She had been a kind and loving wife and mother, and was a helpful friend and neighbor, always willing to lend helping hand. She will be greatly missed by all who know her.
