Orville Turner, 85, Neillsville, died Tuesday, September 23, 1997, at the Memorial Medical Center, Neillsville. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, 1997, at the York Center United Methodist Church, Granton, Rev. Evan Butterbrodt officiated. Burial was in the York Center United Methodist Church Cemetery. Orville Wilbur Turner was born on July 26, 1912, in the Town of York, Clark County, to Abie and Harriet (nee Lindsley) Turner. He attended Oriole Hill School in the Town of York and then worked as a carpenter. In 1938, he married Jean Seller in Loyal. They moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1941, where he worked for the Railroad and the Carborundum Corporation as a warehouseman. His wife died on August 2, 1995. Survivors include one son, Larry (Jan) Turner, Neillsville; two grandchildren, Geoff (Lorrie) Turner, LaCrosse; and Lorie (John) Stone, Wausau; two grandchildren, Miranda and Kelsey Stone; one brother, Wilbur (Ina) Turner, Kirkland, Illinois; one sister, Harriet Triska, Neillsville; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; his parents; and siblings, Price, Birdeen, Mabel, Grant, George, Clayton, Myron and Victor. Gesche Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangments.
