Swanson, Peter J. (6 Mar 1880 - 4 Apr 1947)

Funeral services were conducted by Dr. Crosby Monday, April 7, from the Griebenow Funeral Home with interment in Riverside Cemetery for Peter J. Swanson. Masonic rites were also held at the Funeral Home and Cemetery. He passed away at the age of 67, early Friday morning at the Marshfield Hospital. His sudden death, due to a heart attack, was a shock to his relatives and many friends.

Peter J. Swanson was born in Sweden, March 6, 1880, and came to the United States at the age of 14. His youth was spent around Moline, Ill. In 1911 he married Anna Christiansen and resided in Rock Island, Ill., where their two children were born. In 1922 they moved to a farm in Withee, Clark County, Wis., where they resided until his wife's death last October.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. E. L. (Virginia) Mathewson of Owen, a son, Elmer of Milwaukee, two grandchildren of Owen, and three brothers, Alfred of Moline, Ill., Carl of Montpelier, Iowa, and John of Sweden.

The pallbearers at the funeral were Hans Hanson, Howard Watson, Orrin Perry, Chris Paulsen, Lauritz Rasmussen and Art Laine. The flower girls were were Mrs. Henry Freitag, Mrs. Celand Melbinger, Mrs. Shurleigh Grimes, Mrs. Mike Sorensen, Mrs. Margrete Potocnik, and Mrs. Clarence Strohkirch.

Those attending the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer A. Swanson of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. John Christiansen of Davenport, Iowa, Alfred Swanson of Moline, Ill., Carl Swanson and son Howard, and daughter Kathryn of Buqalo, Iowa.
