Jensen, Peter (20 FEB 1872 - 24 Apr 1949)

A pioneer resident of this community, Peter Jensen, age 77, passed away at his home in the north limits of Withee, Clark County, Wis., Sunday afternoon, April 24, 1949.

Funeral services were conducted from home at 1:30 and from the Danish Church at 2:00 o'clock Wednesday, Rev. Bundgaard officiating. Burial was made in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Richard Nielsen, Clarence Miller, Lionel Thibert, Woodrow Petersen, Walter Heideman and Lester Hansen. Flower girls were Mrs. Harold Heideman, Mrs. Fred Sorensen, Mrs. Quito Laine, Mrs. Grant Anderson, Mrs. James Hansen and Mrs. Chris Beck.

Peter Jensen was born in Vejll, Denmark Feb. 20, 1872. At the age of 17 he came to America and was employed as a farm hand in the vicinity of Hampton, Iowa. In 1894 he came to Withee and was employed as a railroad section and foreman till 1907, when he moved to a wild 80 of land in Frenchtown, where he resided for 40 years, before retiring to his present home in Oct. of 1947.

In 1904 he was married to Sena Anderson, who survives him, besides a son, Tony Jensen, and one daughter, (Romilda) Mrs. John Paul Pennebaker, and three grandchildren of Crystal Lake, Ill.

Those from away who came to attend the funeral were, Mrs. John Paul Pennebaker and daughter Peggy, Crystal Lake, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. V. E. Petersen, Hampton, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Cornell, Port Washington, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Christensen, Marinette, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Petersen, Kenosha, Wis.; Mr. Julian Anderson, Elgin, Ill.; and Mr. Vincent J. Ackeret, Medford, Wis.
